Horse-lovers will be in seventh heaven too, as the estate includes a prestigious dressage school.


Inside Mas Mateu

  • Almost 100m² in size, the main living space offers breathtaking views of the snow-capped Pyrenees through floor to ceiling windows and doors

  • Within the main house there are seven suites and three bedrooms, all en-suite and individually decorated using locally sourced fabrics and unique family heirlooms. Some of the larger suites have private sitting areas, fireplaces and terrace access

  • Extra space is available in the three-bedroom Director House and/or the two-bedroom Guard House

  • Explore the “Dali Triangle”, visiting Pubol, Figueres and Port Lligat

  • Head to the region’s capital city, Barcelona, with its famous Sagrada Familia and glorious Gothic District

  • Play a round of golf at the Empordà course, one of the top courses in Spain and just 15 minutes away by car

  • Visit one of the many celebrated restaurants in the surrounding area, such as El Bulli and El Cellar de Can Roca.

  • Head to one of the lovely nearby Costa Brava beaches from Platja del Racó to the north to Platja del Canadell further south – all within 20 minutes by car from Mas Mateu

  • Enjoy a stroll around La Bisbal d’Empordà - the pottery capital of the region with 500 years of tradition and a fine medieval palace castle in its ancient centre.


Mas Mateu is located in a private setting just 10 minutes from the nearest beach in the Emporda region of Catalonia. It’s a drive of about 45 minutes from Girona and its airport and around two hours by car from Barcelona
