Turks & Caicos

Consisting of two island groups, Turks & Caicos is a British Overseas Territory which combines luxurious seclusion on unspoilt white sand beaches with exotic island living. Its vivid blue waters are full of marine life and the island’s beaches have been voted among the best in the world. Home to one of the longest and most spectacular coral reefs in the world, these serene tropical islands offer exceptional diving and snorkelling opportunities. They’re also a biodiversity hotspot, rich in endemic species of lizards, snakes and marine organisms.

With an array of islands to explore, Turks and Caicos appeals to a variety of travellers. Those interested in the island’s heritage can visit one of the many fascinating museums or galleries whilst food-lovers can sample fresh seafood from rustic beachfront huts or indulge in one of Turks and Caicos’ internationally renowned restaurants. Peaceful days can be spent lying in the sun or taking on more active pursuits such as mountain biking or hiking through the countryside.

Of the eight inhabited islands of Turks & Caicos, Grand Turk (Turks Islands) and Providenciales (Caicos Islands) are the most renowned. The latter is the glamorous tourist hub with the best entertainment and fine dining spots, whilst the capital, Grand Turk, is brimming with history, colonial architecture and charm.

Although frequently overlooked in favour of its glitzier neighbours, this cluster of coral-fringed isles has become a sanctuary for A-listers in search of a low-profile retreat and upmarket accommodation with a tropical flavour. Most of the luxury villas in Turks & Caicos are located on the island of Providenciales, but there is an interesting choice on the smaller isles as well. The weather is sunny and warm all year round, yet holidaymakers should keep in mind that the hurricane season runs from June to November. January to early April is whale watching season.
