Of the eight inhabited islands of Turks & Caicos, Grand Turk (Turks Islands) and Providenciales (Caicos Islands) are the most renowned. The latter is the glamorous tourist hub with the best entertainment and fine dining spots, whilst the capital, Grand Turk, is brimming with history, colonial architecture and charm.
Although frequently overlooked in favour of its glitzier neighbours, this cluster of coral-fringed isles has become a sanctuary for A-listers in search of a low-profile retreat and upmarket accommodation with a tropical flavour. Most of the luxury villas in Turks & Caicos are located on the island of Providenciales, but there is an interesting choice on the smaller isles as well. The weather is sunny and warm all year round, yet holidaymakers should keep in mind that the hurricane season runs from June to November. January to early April is whale watching season.
